Kia Stinger Offers Good Bang For Your Buck

With a starting manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of just $32,795 in the United States, AutogGuide thinks the new 2018 Kia Stinger makes for a great budget-friendly alternative to models like the Cadillac ATS and BMW 3 Series.

The entry level model is powered by a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder engine delivering 255 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque to both rear wheels, which gives the Stinger an appealing 0-60mph acceleration time of just 5.9 seconds.

One step up is the range-topping 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6 variant and for a still affordable price of $39,895, owners will have 365 hp and 376 lb-ft of torque on tap. The power boost helps reduce its 0-60mph sprint time to 4.7 seconds, and itíll top out at 167 mph.

Both engines are paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters and those who want all-wheel drive will have to pay an additional $2,200. Thatís still a reasonable price, though an all-wheel drive V6 Stinger will set you back $50,395.

Once the sport sedan goes on sale, customers will be able to choose from 5 trim levels; base, Premium, GT, GT1, and GT2. Below is the pricing structure for each trim including destination charges.

2.0 base: $32, 795

2.0 Premium: $37,895

3.3 GT: $39,895

3.3 GT1: $44,395

3.3 GT2: $50,395

The base making that sort of power looking how it does and all for $32k is a bit of a steal if you ask me. I can see this rivaling the Honda Civic and other new sporty sedans that can go for a similar price when spec'd similarly.

You'd be hard pressed to find something so well equipped and fun for just $32k and if you're willing to negotiate a bit, perhaps the dealership will lower the price a bit more as well.

My thought exactly. New civic is quite big now and also really fast with tuning. Stinger has better exterior. Civic has slightly better price and fuel economy. Both should fun to drive.

exterior means a lot here since often people go for looks over performance, its when you get into the higher segments that performance starts to matter a lot. people will see the stinger and think of it as a $32k Panamera.

Nothing wrong with being compared to a Panamera, both the Stinger and Panamera are lookers with an aggressive styling. Some may even say the rear gives off Maserati vibes.

Apparently, the 3.3 v6 model will be 40 k in the Uk with a 7 year 100,000 mile warranty, the warranty applies on all models. An amazing deal and even better if you can get it second hand after someone's lease is up.

Wanted to ask you guys about features for different trim levels, but already found it on Kia's official website. I will never understand base trim level buyers, this car must have some insanity under the hood. Also, Harman Kardon sound system is a great advantage for Premium, GT1 and G2 owners.

I know what you mean because often the way these base trims are configured is it makes you want to upgrade to the next level, but that's often how it is, positioned as an up sell. At the same time it lets them have a marketing advantage.

Could be a cost factor for those who go with the entry level model, but the GT seems like it has most things you need though I do wish it came with a power tilt steering column like every other trim in the lineup.
