Kelley Blue Book Ownership Review

So Kelley Blue Book recently updated how their ownership of the Stinger GT is going. It looks like there have been almost zero repairs thus far, and the car has spent no time out of service. The biggest complaint that they have Is that the 15.9 gallon fuel tank is just too small, considering how quickly the Stinger goes through it.

KBB's Stinger
Current Odometer: 7,364 miles
Latest MPG: 26.15 mpg
Lifetime MPG: 21.48 mpg
Maintenance/Service Costs: $4.50
Time out of Service: 0 minutes

Happy to see that the Stinger is proving itself to be reliable thus far, but that's still very low mileage to determine any real faults. While that average fuel economy isn't great, its not terrible either considering the performance in the GT trim.

Maybe in the future Kia will look towards implementing a hybrid powertrain in the Stinger, as that seems to be a growing trend in performance models. Would not only help with off the line acceleration, but would also increase the less than stellar fuel economy.

What are you comparing it to? A 3.3 liter V6 that puts out 365 horsepower and delivers 21.48 average MPG over 7,400 miles is pretty good. What matches that power and delivers better fuel economy?

I don't think there is anything that delivers better fuel economy at +350hp, but the industry is transitioning towards efficiency. There will no longer be the need to compromise fuel economy for higher levels of performance, with hybrid and electric technology.

They need to see more successful sales before they can look to diversifying the trim levels. As much as I would like to see a hybrid variant, its going to be far too expensive for them to manufacture at this point. They need more volume before they can get their manufacturing costs down.

To be honest, I don't know how many people who are considering the Stinger, are concerned with its fuel economy. And you could always go with the 2.0 L, which I believe is delivering around 25mpg combined.

I have a 2.0 L and I’m getting 26 mpg combined and 30 highway. BTW, the power from the 2.0 L has plenty of go to get into trouble.
