Drift Happy Kia Stinger Will Tear It Up At SEMA

Kia has already announced their plan to introduce a wide body Stinger along with other Kia vehicles at the upcoming SEMA Show in Las Vegas next week, but they're also planning to have "a jaw-dropping good time" outside of the exhibition floors as well.

Called the Stinger Drift Experience, a team of professional drivers from Formula Drift will be shredding tyres every hour during show times outside the Las Vegas Convention Center. Starting on October 31, SEMA attendees will be able to watch these drivers take on a "twisty track built for raucous tire-melting action" in modified Stinger GTs. These performances will go on until November 2.

Unfortunately, fans won't be able to take part in the Stinger Drift action but Kia has planned a 'spirited autocross' course for those who can drive. Though not much about the course is known at this point.

At least the show date is fast approaching and those who fall in love with the Stinger at SEMA can purchase their very own this December. It may not be an aggressively-modified GT, but a twin-turbo 3.3-liter V6 powered Stinger GT with 365 hp and 376 lb-ft of torque is still a great option. It's good enough to sprint from 0-60 mph in just 4.7 seconds before reaching a top speed of 167 mph.

That's a nice idea to show Stinger's performances and promote it. Hope they are going to upload a longer video of that Drift Experience. Do they always do this type of things at SEMA? or it's the first time? It would be nice to see new models drifting each year and maybe create some type of rating among them. What do you think?
The Stinger has been drifted before, but not necessarily by Kia's own drivers. I've seen what may be a Korean journalist drift one before so it may be the norm for the press. But not too sure about events because this is the first I've heard of something like this.

Sick video!

I got one question, what's happening with front headlights on minute 3:00? Why are they blinking?
I've read about this somewhere, it's because the camera they used to record doesn't have a high enough frame rate or something. Not a problem with the car's headlights. Would be cool if Kia decides to soak the drift track at SEMA. I won't be there to see it personally, but someone will videotape how epic it is.
If only we were there to sit in the passenger side for Kia's Stinger drift experience. Something the average owner can do because all they modded was the exhaust, tires and brakes. Two of which most people are prone to do anyways.
Aaaand one more video from SEMA Stinger drifting:

Speaking of the drift experience, formula driver Emerson Fittipaldi had his first drift experience in a SEMA Stinger! He's a two-time Formula One and Indianapolis 500 champion, so this will be great publicity for Kia and he looked very happy.

As iconic as he is to the automotive world he doesn't hold that much weight for setting a good marketing image for the Stinger. What will be better is if Kia can get some professional drifters on board and even better if they can get a high performing Stinger drift car developed.
That's a really nice marketing move from Kia! I wish Fittipaldi was in the driver seat, however, it still looks good for me. (Video would be nice too)
I hope we're gonna see more Stinger performance videos with some famous people in the driver seat. Personally, I would love to see Ken Block having fun with it.
