Genesis G70 vs Stinger

The Genesis G70 shares the same platform and engine as the Stinger, but the upcoming Genesis G70 sport sedan gains something its Kia Stinger cousin lacks, a manual transmission. I have a feeling there will be a big demand for the stick-shift option on the new G70 and I wonder if it will cause Kia to consider a manual gearbox for the Stinger in the future.

I do not understand the fascination with manual and never will. Automatic transmissions are far superior at shifting in modern cars as well as being more practical with the traffic conditions we face now.

There's something to be said for the driving experience that comes from driving a stick, especially in a performance model like the Stinger. Why do you think there is so much interest in the gearbox of the new FT-1 Supra? Because car enthusiasts know that when it comes to tuning, a manual tranny is the way to go.
Maybe for driving in the twistys but for straight line performance, automatic will win every time unless there is an overwhelming difference in go fast parts.
Lol I don't know if you ever driven a standard car before, but there is "fun" factor to it that can't really be measured. It's not all about maximizing performance, but providing the best driving experience. I think we'll be surprised with how popular the manual option will be on the G70, especially considering how increasingly rare its becoming.
Everyone is different and there's something to be said for not needing to shift in heavy traffic. There are pros and cons to each transmission, just depends on what you're willing to compromise on. As a daily driver, I'd rather not need to keep shifting in traffic and my wrists just aren't the same these days. An automatic is just a better fit for my lifestyle, though I do like the G70's long list of luxury interior features.
The only key thing missing from the g70 is the hatch!!!! And to me the hatch along with the awd makes it so desireable.

I'm sure Genesis will come out with a hatchback at some point, but I'm personally not a fan of that body style since it reminds me too much of wagons. I'd much prefer the Stinger's body style.
I love all the new hot hatches on the market, and I saw some renderings of a sportsbrake G70, which I think suits it. I was pretty disappointed when I saw the specs for the new Kia Rio GT, which has a pretty lackluster powertrain.

Now they have even more of a reason to do it since VW confirmed the Arteon will get a similar looking version that follows the "shooting brake" styling.
Although when it comes to market I doubt they will call it that but instead an "Arteon Coupe" or something to that effect.
There seem to be a lot of manufacturers jumping on the band "wagon". The XF shooting brake out of Jaguar has been getting some solid reviews, and most publications seem to think its actually of better value than the sedan model.
