With models like the Ferrari Portofino and McLaren 720S on the list, being presented with the Red Dot Award is a prestigious honor. Each year, Red Dot receives countless applications for the best-designed cars and trucks on the market and this year is Kia's turn to shine with the Stinger receiving top marks for design.

Claimed to be the "largest and most recognised professional design competition", Red Dot's evaluation is said to be without prejudice. Each year, they hand out a few standard Red Dot awards along with some honorable mentions. Though it's no small feat to have a vehicle listed in either categories, the German agency does single out a few models out and give them the label of being the "Best of the Best".

It's an impressive accomplishment for the Stinger to be put on the same level as exotics with six-figure price tags, placed on a pedestal with the highest honor awarded to cars. This is a proud year for Kia, not only did their Stinger sports sedan bring home the top title, both the Picanto and Stonic brought home two more Red Dot awards.

With such success, perhaps more pressure will be put on Kia the following years to deliver equally inspirational designs.

Great to see Kia getting recognition for what they have achieved with the Stinger. They continue to demonstrate how far the brand has come, and I hope more people start to recognize them as a viable alternative to German products.
I'm more surprised that awards are still being handed out this late in the year than the Stinger actually winning another one. At this point it feels like the car has been on sale for so long, it should have won everything it was meant to already. These design awards are beauty pageants to me and the winner is based on the judges tastes in cars, not really something to base a purchasing decision on no matter how prestigious the award is, that's my two cents.
I mean the awards are based upon design, and you have to admit that Kia did a pretty fantastic job on their first grand touring model. You certainly shouldn't buy a car just based on its looks, but styling could be a deciding factor when choosing between different vehicles.
Kia won the Red Dot award for its exterior design and it made Wards 10 Best Interiors for 2018 list. Pretty much the perfect package at this point if how a car looks is on of the lager determining factors of car purchase. I'm more for performance first and then design second.

Same here but the way it really works is that if it looks sporty enough, people will buy, also its cheaper to do than actual performance. Just look at a lot of vehicles these days, they look far faster than they actually are. Here, Kia just needs to launch higher performing versions.
