Love this car

Made the plunge after months of lurking and watching videos and reading reviews. Upgraded from a 2015 Optima to a Black GT2 AWD Stinger.

I have to say that I'm in love with this car. This is the first time that I bought a car that wasn't an impulse buy. I've owned a 2014 Shelby GT500, Z4 M Coupe, 330xi and a Mustang GT 5.0. It must look like an odd list given that I upgraded from an Optima but after getting married, I traded in the Shelby for an Optima and a Serento Limited edition for the wife. The Optima is a nice car but compared to what I'm used to driving, I was losing a little bit of my soul every day. I love driving but I'd gotten to where I hated getting in the car.

Enter the beast with the sting and "Its a beautiful life"..again :crying

This car is absolutely amazing..the torque is unbelievable with the twin turbo and that says a lot after my last performance car being a 652 BHP Shelby. And its luxurious to boot. I picked it up on the 18th of this month. Yes. its a lot of money to shell out for a Kia but I'm not a badge guy and am all about the drive and a value. This car is unbelievable value for what you get and it is practical. And I can actually put luggage in the back and have a full back seat. I wanted the HUD after being in the kick starter for the Navdy Hud. Hated when they went out of business and wanted the HUD option. Kia got it right with this car. A nice mix of power, practicality and luxury for a good price.

Congrats on your new Stinger! That's a pretty colourful history of cars and the Stinger sounds like it's living up to your expectations. Honestly, if you take off the badge, most people won't know it's a Kia and they've done a great job with the Stinger's performance.

A bit off topic, I'm interested to hear a bit more about your old Mustang GT 5.0, which year was it from?

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the new Stinger! Glad to hear that its both practical and a blast to drive, and I think we'll be be seeing a lot more interest in it, as badge awareness continues to increase for Kia. This platform is more than capable of going toe to toe with much more expensive German rivals.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on the new GT2! I think that most people would share your initial impressions of the Stinger if they were simply able to look past their badge bias.

A bit off topic, I'm interested to hear a bit more about your old Mustang GT 5.0, which year was it from?

I had to go back and look through some docs to find out the year lol. It was the 2011, the first year of the 5.0 (post the fastback of course).

Thanks and agreed. Its interesting that my encounters with BMW driver(s) and I used to be one but didn't fall into the category I'm going to describe is that most don't want to try and go head to head with the stinger. I've had some fun with some charger drivers where they start messing with me and I just drop back and accelerate up their tail a couple of times just to demonstrate that I can go by them if I want but I don't want to go to jail..:grin
