Hey guys, been lurking on this forum for awhile and just wanted to introduce myself. I recently had the chance to test drive a Stinger and I have to admit that I forgot it was a Kia aha. Its got some incredible performance for the money, and I see myself purchasing one in the future. Unfortunately I've learned the hard way, the risks of buying into the first generation of a vehicle. So I'll be holding off until we see what kinds of problems arise in the Stinger. Cheers

Welcome to the forum! A few people here are holding back as well to see what problems crop up in the first year. I think the latest plague on Stingers is how the car starts stuttering when you're hard accelerating, or your RPMs would increase but your speed wouldn't get anywhere.

Good choice on holding off but sometimes the risk of buying a new product stretch right into year 2, 3 and even 4. Its why when shopping for a used car sometimes even earlier year models are better than one of the last versions. At the end of the day you have to do your research.

I haven't heard about any problems in regards to the Stingers performance, is that a widespread issue? And typically when buying a new car you can look at where the platform came from and determine areas of concern. Unfortunately we cant do that with the Stinger as its a brand new set up.

The only concern I've seen owners note so far, was for those vibration issues that have already been recalled. Some should probably be pretty close to their first scheduled maintenance, so we'll see if any issues arise then.

Some people suggest it is a bit underpowered which is to be expected from a Korean brand in this segment launching a car in its first year of production. Right now they're trying to push volume, as the need for more special models grow so will the lack of complaints.

Glad to have you on board! Sometimes it can be challenging going in on a first generation. Check out the Stinger at the end of the year, already seems like they will have some new updates to it!

Thanks! And yeah I think I'm going to hold out for a bit to see what sorts of changes Kia implements. And by then there should be even more aftermarket mods available, which I think will be right at home in the Stinger.
