Welcome to the forum!
So now you've got a modded Optima and Stinger in your garage? How are you liking the Stinger in comparison?
Thank you Bumblebee!
No no.......had '13 optima sxl....traded for stinger....
liking it quite a bit.....seeing it's AWD and already seen a bit of snow - and just yesterday some icing....
certainly tested out AWD and ABS

Optima had Lap 3 on it w/CC.....for quite some time....used it on low setting(warp 1) in winter - warp 3 balance of time
think stinger 2.0 with revised gearing and 8 speed...about as fast....without it........will install after breakin

steering feels a little heavier... few different things to get used to....and the ISG....bothers the **** out of me....turning it off
all the time....
strange thing in this area........no RWD yet......"All" are AWD........and not many around - yet
Heard the electronically-controlled AWD system has remarkably stable handling on irregular surfaces. I assume the snow you got wasn't a problem at all for your Stinger. :D
Welcome!

Glad to have a new member on the forum!

Have you thought about what first mods and accessories you want to get?
As of the end of december - the 35 - 40 stingers advertised on cars.com and autotrader were all AWD...maybe because of the greater Chicagoland area and the weather here.........
The Awd has come into play twice already for me.........and I approve......very- very slight slip , then off ya go...pedal down..
very nice....... ha ha but watch the stopping......abs works just fine.....but am questioning the potenzas that are on it for stopping
not rated high for that.......

previous optima came with Hankooks and after 8800 miles - on anything slick...my life was in danger - changed to eagles..and the
car finally acted like it was supposed to
playing / testing continues......now with a few hundred miles on it - checking out the driving modes
Thank you GTseoul
Am feelin things out......a little testing...on dry and slick roads.......
Just rec'd catch can........which will go on soon........as a hot rodder for decades......it's a good idea for any car..
as weather breaks and after a suitable breakin......Lap 3 uncle chip.....is on hand (it works) and will be put in....
then - possibly - down and mid pipe..........those are biggest bang for the bucks

Thank you for the welcome
Where did you buy your catch can? I know they are not all made equal...
Catch can.....little story...after looking in length..and having a cheapie on my previous optima....again looking at length....
thought mishimoto would be best....."universal" can.....has deflector( 2) on 3 port model)...along w/the disc inside...and the brass
filter on outlet...same type used on moisture filters for air compressors.....which are a must when spray painting cars.

found on Amazon and took a chance......Sporacingrts.....oil catch can...not real great picture(s) -but for $50...took a chance..could always return........

turns out - seems to be an exact match....for mishimoto universal 3 port can....
standard 3/8" npt fittings even for drain ....spent $8
at Depot for 3/8 to 1/4 adapter and a 1/4" quarter turn drain valve(in the air compressor aisle).......a mishimoto copy w/drain valve
for about 1/4th the price........weak point might be oring........we'll see - hope that helps

drive mode testing continues.......and 2 - 5" snow coming.....maybe more testing of AWD.....
So when you gettin yours??
See less See more
Thx..

I'll be buying when they let me choose the color combination I want on a GT2. Right now, options are limited..
I thought it would be cool to get a simple color but then explore options to vinyl wrap the car. These days we have so many options if you're willing to go that route
Actually, that was my original plan, and the local shop that does exotics here is just a couple of miles away. A matte blue metallic would cost me around $2500, and I was prepared to go that route, until my girl saw the Kia blue metallic - and I have to agree, it's gorgeous. So that's the route I'm going, Kia-willing...
