Hi everyone, I'm Waynerm002 from the Optima forum! I'm fairly sure a number of Optima members are already here so just wanted to say **** to this forum and congratulate the folks that have already picked up their Stingers. My plan is to pick one up in 2019 or earlier as my Volvo lease is up then. I'll be on here to learn from the early adopters and share some KIA knowledge to folks that are new to the brand, much in the same way the Optima forum members assisted me when I came to KIA from BMW. I'm quite ecstatic about KIA producing this car and bringing it to market, finally we have a KIA with the go to match the show!

Welcome to the Stinger forum! The Stinger is indeed a game changer for Kia and with how much publicity it's getting, I'm expecting Kia to continue the momentum somehow.
Are you thinking of the standard model or the GT?
Welcome.

Tell me about it, ever since seeing the concept I was surprised that Kia would do something like this and now that's its here... if they offer sportier trims I could easier choose it over a Focus RS or even the Type R.
The world of kia is becoming an exciting one and they won't just be associated with hamsters anymore. :D
Not they'll be known for gibing us a great car for a modest price. Where else would you find a sedan with a 255 horsepower, 2.0L, turbocharged four cylinder engine than here?
I'm wishing for higher torque numbers, that's the thing that gets you up to speed. For this car, they should have given it around 280- 290 lb ft of torque, my S60 has an overboost function to provide 285 lb ft for 10 seconds and a tune to make that permanent while also modifying the transmission settings. Personally I don't need a twin turbo V6 but would have preferred the Stinger 2.0T to provide some more grunt to be more competitive with the other 2.0T from Audi and BMW.

Well there is the Type R, its 2.0 engine is putting out around 300hp which is a big deal. In the new Accord that same engine is making around 250, which is still decent for todays standards.

It's probably only a matter of time until an aftermarket tuner comes out with something for the Stinger to increase overall performance. Most cases there's going to be an increase in torque and hp and maybe it'll come in at lower rpms.
Ultimately a tuning and mod package would be idea although its a bit of a long shot. What does help though is Korea is flush with tuners and people who could take this on. With all the positive feedback Kia is getting with the Stinger I can see it happening
