Not really a fair race when the Stinger is faced off against an older Mustang model and not the new 2018 one. Times are also dependent on the driver since it's a manual, because it takes a lot of skill to get the most of of those gearboxes compared to an auto. Still impressive for the Stinger to run 13 secs for the 1/4 mile.

Never thought we'd see the day when Kia's were outperforming Mustangs on the strip. Don't think the setups on each model were ideal to really compare their performance, but the Stingers numbers speak for itself. I'd like to see the same race but with both models all tuned up.

Then that'll be dependent on which tuner, which still doesn't seem fair. You do make a good point of how far Kia has come when it can stand up against a model that's known for putting a large amount of power down in in a straight line. Just gotta make sure it doesn't get the same cars and coffee reputation. :D

I'm just curious which model has more tuning potential. I know there are far more tunes currently available for the Mustang, but we've seen the large spike in power that the Stinger receives from a simple chip tune. And the fact that the Stinger comes in an AWD trim, imo gives it quite the leg up.

Biggest difference is the fact that the Mustang has always been around and aftermarket parts companies know what people want well ahead of time, most importantly they have a solid base of buyers that will always be around. The Stinger other hand is completely new, hard to say how things will play out.

I really hope that the Stinger sees successful sales in its first year, which could lead to even higher performance trims down the line, like what Ford offers in the Shelby Mustang. There aren't many vehicles you can buy that come with 700hp right out of the dealership in this segment.

The biggest difference between the Mustang and the Stinger is that the Mustang has a proven platform and a well established consumer base. It doesn't seem like the Stinger is being sold at quite the rate that Kia was hoping for. Could be years before we see a more powerful (and more expensive) Stinger trim.

Well lets hope that the aftermarket support for the Stinger takes off in the meantime. I've seen that there are already some ECU tunes available, as well as performance intakes and exhausts. Have to admit that I haven't come across an exhaust that's really wowed me yet.

Although the 2020 GT AWD could definitely take on a more expensive counterpart like the BMW M2, both packing 365hp.

Now that's a bang for the buck right there with the Stinger!
