Okay, correct me if I'm wrong........comparable competition to the Stinger in various trims would be......

1) Buick Regal Sportback in Prefered, Essence and GS in FWD and AWD models
2) Audi A5 and S5
3) Audi A7 Sportback (yes, a little higher up the food chain)
4) Mitsubishi Lancer sportback GT (a little down the food chain)

I didn't include the Porsche Panamerica for obvious reasons........

Are there any more? Anymore on the horizon?

Cheers
Tony

I heard that Porsche might be planning for a baby-panamera so if that comes to market then it might just be within reach of those shopping for a higher trim Stinger.

The fusion sport should be on the list.

If you are lucky enough to get one without the major issues it is real competition, especially with a tune for about $500...

Heard the new Fusion Sport feels like a front wheel drive car unless you put it in sport mode, which means some torque steer if you step on it from low speeds. I've one as a rental before and it was okay I suppose. can't comment on the other ones from an experience standpoint.

I have not had that experience at all with mine, it only goes to fwd when cruising. As soon as you hit the gas all 4 wheels are pulling.

It was a really good idea but this is a parts bin car and it shows in everything from the bug ridden electronics to defective engine components. Waiting for a buyback from ford on mine and then moving on to the Stinger...

Sadly that's the only way they can test a product idea much like what RAM did to the Rebel, it was more of an upfitting than a new model. Before people figured that out they were bench marking it against the Raptor, turns out its not even on the Raptors Radar :grin

Ok, I'm a fan of the new Stinger, but there's no way I would consider an A7 in this list. And I kinda feel that including a Buick and Ford only drags down what Kia's trying to do. But who knows....time will tell.

So I'm a little disillusioned by some of the option/trim limitations with the Stinger, and the total lack of availability of the color combinations I want (blue on red).

I've been looking again at the vehicles I was considering when I found out the Stinger was coming earlier this year. The M3, M4 or AMG C43. There are others I had not looked at - the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio, for example. Yes, it's significantly more expensive than a loaded GT2, but it also has 505bhp.

So I'm really interested in discussing competitive alternatives to the Stinger..

Now you're starting down a road littered with land mines. I started this thread to discuss competition that includes the one feature that I desire in the Stinger, a lift back. If you want to discuss other vehicles, such as the Alfa Romeo, Bimmers or Mercs, then fine, but it does open a can of worms.

As for the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio.........God I'd love to have one, but I'd hate to live with one. My closest dealer, 40 miles away (which is actually closer than I expected, but still too far for a shuttle), higher insurance costs, higher maintanance costs, higher parts costs, steeper depreciation, ( especially if Alfa follows history to form).

Yes, Car & Driver compared the Alfa and Stinger together in a test and the Alfa won (no surprise), but really, it was like comparing an apple to an orange.

Cheers

Good point, and I didn't mean to ambush your thread.

I guess I was whining as the car I want isn't available, yet.

I *am*, however, still interested to hear what others think of cars that do compare to the Stinger. I'm sure I'm not the only one who's considered other vehicles.
